Today Lab: Publishing all user-centered design fieldwork in one place

Today Lab
Funded by the Harvard Initiative for Learning and Teaching
2015 - 2018

The first version of Today Lab was designed as an educational guide and tool to help people conduct and publish structured fieldwork on the human context of problems that matter and can lead to better innovation, design, and entrepreneurship.

By focusing on providing a guided tool for conducting quality human context fieldwork, I was working toward the larger goal of providing a searchable and discoverable 'publication' of quality fieldwork on the human context of problems facing society. Nothing quite like this exists today. Quality fieldwork and basic domain expertise are expensive both in terms of time and funding. They are also valuable to aspiring researchers, problem solvers and entrepreneurs, and currently there is no way either to publish it at a reasonable level of fidelity for the target population, nor to search what has been done by others.

“Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it; boldness has genius, power and magic in it.

Only engage, and then the mind grows heated. Begin it, and the work will be completed.”

- Goethe (in German)
